Volunteering

There are many opportunities for parents and friends to become involved in the life of the school. These range from helping with class reading/educational programs, coaching or assisting with sporting teams, cultural or educational pursuits, working in the canteen, supporting the Parent Assembly and participating in the fund raising and social agendas of the Parents and Friends Association (P&F).

New requirements mean that ALL volunteers in the school must obtain a Working With Children Check clearance (WWCC). The WWCC is free to all volunteers and will require the volunteer to apply for a WWCC online by visiting the Office of the Children’s Guardian using the link below.

Once the online process is completed, the volunteer will need to attend their local RMS (Service NSW) and verify their identification.

The volunteer will then need to access and complete the Working With Children Check Clearance Number Verification and Declaration Form (available on the CSO website, Parents and Community page, Volunteers section) where they can complete Form4 online (or see attached). This form then needs to be printed, signed and submitted at the school along with a 100 Point Proof of ID Check Form.

The Catholic Diocese of Maitland-Newcastle has an absolute and abiding commitment to promoting the safety, welfare and wellbeing of children. As a volunteer working in a Diocesan school, you should be aware of your obligations and responsibilities in protecting students from abuse or neglect.

Please make yourself aware of your responsibilities by reading the Volunteers Induction Handbook.
